A man and women were left for dead after being struck by a speeding car in a hit and run car accident. The couple was walking along the side of the highway after their vehicle ran out of gas when a speeding car struck them and then sped off.

The man, 28, was thrown to a ditch on the side of the road, while his friend was left immobile along the guardrail as cars passed on by.

"She was against the railing on the highway side," he said. "I'd seen probably two to three ribs protruding out... I tried to get up, and I couldn't, and I looked and I'd seen that my leg was like in a 'z' formation."

Five hours later, a couple driving truck noticed the couple along the side of the road and called authorities for assistance. They were transported to Boston Medical Center where they were treated for their injuries.

Police are still trying to catch the driver that hit the couple. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Massachusetts State Police.
