Man Killed in Three-Car Accident

A 43-year-old man was killed in a three-car accident on Route 6 yesterday. According to public safety officials, the accident occurred when one driver veered into oncoming traffic.

The man was driving south on Route 6, at 9 a.m., when his vehicle was hit head-on by a Toyota Tundra pickup, which had crossed the center lane. A third vehicle traveling south also struck the car from behind, police said.

He was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Cape Cod Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Authorities are investigating why the Tundra, driven by a 48-year-old Eastham man, had drifted into the southbound lane in the first place. The driver of the Tundra was found inside his vehicle and transported to Cape Code Hospital in stable condition. A passenger of his vehicle was also taken to the hospital but her condition is unknown at this time.

The driver and passenger of the third vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries and then taken home by friends.
